Statewide court-case search
In North Dakota Courts Records Inquiry, choose “State of North Dakota” to search all available locations. The Criminal Case Records option searches publicly accessible criminal, traffic and petty-misdemeanor records.
Case-search keys
The court help page allows searches by defendant, case number, citation number, attorney or date filed. Adding status, date range or case type can reduce false matches for common names.
BCI criminal-history check
The Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation route is a different product. It can be name-based or fingerprint-based and is limited to North Dakota criminal-history records.
Name vs fingerprint identity
BCI warns that a name-based search can miss records created under a different name, while a fingerprint-based search can identify records tied to an unknown alias.

Treat a court hit as a case lead, not a complete identity profile
The online inquiry is useful, but it is not the official court record
North Dakota’s public-access FAQ says NDCRI is free and provides case information, while court guidance warns that online information is not itself the official court record. For a consequential use, verify the case with the clerk and choose the BCI criminal-history product when the task is a criminal-history check rather than a docket search.
